A query is evidence of an information need
Search Console shows queries associated with your site’s visibility and visits. Available measures include clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position. Google’s documentation
An export is not yet an editorial plan. To create one, connect the query, the page that appears and the commercial context. Someone seeking a free template needs a different answer from someone selecting an agency. Both audiences may matter, but their questions do not automatically belong on the same page.
Start with a comparable slice of data
Choose a period that fits your business and compare it with a meaningful equivalent. For seasonal services, a year-on-year view may add useful context. Separate countries and languages when they represent different offers or audiences. Keep branded demand visible rather than mixing it unnoticed into broad topic performance.
Begin with one manageable subject area, such as your existing marketing automation pages. Save the selected filters alongside the export. That makes it possible to establish later whether a change reflects a page improvement or simply a different selection of data. A consistent view is more useful than a large spreadsheet nobody can reproduce.
Match intent to the best existing page
Group related questions by what the searcher wants to do: understand, compare, implement or hire. Then identify the existing URL best suited to that intention. An established page often needs a clearer section rather than a competing new article.
Imagine a service page receiving impressions for “connect CRM to website”. Its current copy describes general automation benefits but never explains the handover. The first task could be a section covering form submission, required systems and project boundaries. A separate article becomes useful if it answers a deeper implementation question with its own distinct purpose.
Use four practical task types
Close an information gap with a clear explanation or substantiated example. Improve an unclear presentation by revising the title or opening. Resolve a mismatched destination through better page assignment and internal links. Create a new article where there is no adequate existing answer.
Make the task executable: “Add a section explaining duplicate contacts and enquiry ownership to the integration page.” “Produce more SEO content” gives a writer very little direction. Google encourages content that helps people; publication volume alone does not establish that value. Content quality guidance
Prioritise commercial relevance and useful evidence
Consider the fit with your services, the observed demand, the actual content gap and the work involved. A smaller purchasing question may deserve attention before a popular general topic. Also check whether your team has enough original knowledge or material to provide a useful answer.
For each task, record the destination URL, intent, proposed change, owner and review date. Evaluate subsequent performance with the same filters. Avoid broad conclusions from a handful of clicks. Seasonality, competing pages and changes in search results can all influence the trend, even when your own page has improved.
Build a repeatable editorial routine
Review a short list of priorities and record which changes were actually completed. An automated report can surface patterns and prepare evidence. Deciding what the website should say still requires an understanding of the offer and its audience.
Our SEO service connects analysis with implementation. If exports and reporting consume too much manual effort, AI reporting can structure the preparation. The useful outcome is a clear set of justified actions, rather than an automatically expanding archive of near-identical articles.
